Free trial to contribute to Trove extended
Join over 900 Partner Institutions from around Australia
Trove brings together amazing collections from Australian libraries, universities, museums, galleries, and archives. It’s free and available online all day, every day. It is a collaboration between the National Library of Australia and hundreds of Partner organisations around Australia.
Last year eHive members were offered a trial which has now been extended. If eHive members sign up for a trial with Trove before 1 June 2023, they will not have to pay the joining fees.
Feature Collection: West Highland Museum
The West Highland Museum tells the story of the Scottish Highlands and the Islands. It aims to cover every aspect of West Highland history, including that of Fort William, where it is located in a listed building in the centre of the town. It also hosts other exhibits for archaeology and wildlife.

First World War Marquetry Box
About this object
Marquetry box made by a German POW at Kinlochleven prisoner camp during the First World War and presented to Janet Weir Adamson (later Stewart) who worked at the camp for the war effort. Janet died in 1928, but her family kept the box as a treasured family heirloom.
The camp was operational from 1916-1919. Also known as Loch Eilde Camp, it was part of the British prisoner of war camp network and operated as a satellite to Stobs Camp in the Borders. The camp hosted mostly German prisoners of war with also some British conscientious objectors. The camp was cleared after the end of the First World War. However, almost the entire plan form of the camp remains visible.
